It was the winter of 2000 when Jay made the bold decision to leave his successful career in the IT industry. Though his colleagues were stunned, Jay knew that he wanted something more fulfilling and exciting in his life. With his entrepreneurial spirit and strong focus on customer service, Jay was drawn to the world of landscaping. He started small, knocking on doors and distributing flyers to his friends and family. And as luck would have it, he quickly became swamped with work.
The following year, Jay purchased an old Ford 350 and hired a shoveler to plow snow during the winter months. What started as a “tool in his tool-bag” soon evolved into a full-scale snow and ice management service for residential properties, town-house corporations, and commercial parking lots and plazas. With a growing fleet of trucks, salters, ATV’s, loaders, and employees, Jay’s business continued to expand.
As the business grew, Jay’s one employee who helped shovel snow stayed on to become a valuable member of the team, assisting with garden installations, patio construction, and more. With time, Green Side Up Contracting became known for its ability to take on bigger and more challenging projects, from backyard patios to pool installations, cabanas, gazebos, decks, and fences. And during the winter months when snow and ice work slowed down, the team discovered their skills in basement, bathroom, and kitchen renovations, expanding their services to offer year-round interior construction.
Over the years, Green Side Up Contracting has won numerous awards for their dedication to superior customer service and quality workmanship. Jay’s unwavering commitment to his clients and his team has made his company one of the most respected contracting companies in Toronto. And though his journey began with a simple desire for something more fulfilling, Jay has created a legacy that continues to thrive and grow.
